Provide review and input to negotiations with regulatory agencies regarding wording and details of waste discharge permits or pretreatment limits. Represent client in compliance matters.
Work as a member of the industrial process design team to complete mass balances, develop waste loadings, and develop water supply and the waste handling and treatment facilities. Assist with permitting, design team coordination, negotiations with equipment vendors, and process commissioning.
Analyze current water and wastewater management methods, troubleshoot problem areas, and develop ways to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. Identify opportunities for application of instrumentation and automation of operation.
Wastewater treatment systems often consume large amounts of energy. Using available funding sources, analyze process schemes, mechanical equipment, and operating methods to develop options for minimizing energy costs. Take advantage of available funding incentives.
Analyze current water and wastewater management methods, and develop ways to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. Identify opportunities for application of instrumentation and automation of operation.
Assist in characterizing waste solids, establishing the optimal processing scheme, and determining the most favorable ultimate disposal or reuse of the solids. Develop solids management plans for regulatory agencies. Design solids thickening, dewatering, and storage facilities.
